Hi, I’m Melanie!

I enjoy finding better ways to work and building solutions that make a real difference.

My background in hands-on project delivery and Project Management Office (PMO) operations has given me a practical understanding of how teams work, the challenges they face, and the importance of balancing efficiency with organizational goals.

Today, I bring that perspective to technology, using Microsoft Power Platform and Fabric to turn complex processes and disconnected data into practical, intuitive solutions. From business intelligence and custom applications to workflow automation and AI, I enjoy connecting the pieces to solve real problems.

I'm also naturally curious and love experimenting with emerging technologies, exploring what's possible, and finding creative ways to put new tools to work.

Project Hub 01

A centralized application connecting projects, employee records, and personnel assignments across SharePoint lists. Built to explore AI-assisted business application development.

The challenge

Project information and personnel assignments lived across multiple SharePoint lists. Users needed one place to search, view, create, and update projects and manage assigned personnel.

My contribution

I designed the hub and structured the SharePoint data sources and relationships connecting projects, employees, and roles. I developed and tested AI-assisted implementations using Copilot Code and GitHub Copilot.

The experience

The application includes a dashboard, searchable project listings, and detailed views of contracts, periods of performance, status, and assigned personnel. Create and edit workflows update projects and their personnel assignments in SharePoint.

What I explored

I compared emerging AI-assisted development approaches, evaluating functionality and the effort needed to turn natural-language instructions into a working business application.

Blood Pressure Journal 02

An end-to-end personal journaling solution, from Microsoft Forms data collection to a custom Fabric App built on a Power BI semantic model.

The challenge

Repeated readings and related journal entries needed a consistent collection process and a clear format for review over time.

My contribution

I developed a solution using Microsoft Forms, Power Automate, SharePoint, and Microsoft Fabric. Automated collection and storage feed a custom Fabric App built on a Power BI semantic model.

The experience

An interactive calendar displays daily readings and classifications. A journal timeline brings measurements, medication, meals, and symptoms together. A trend chart analyzes readings by time of day, with a dynamic background reflecting measurement times.

Additional capabilities

Users can add readings and export data to Excel for review. The application includes automatic categorization of measurements.

Project managers could explore financial metrics, analyze labor and expenses, monitor contract performance, and identify trends through interactive filters and visualizations.

The challenge

Project managers relied on weekly Excel-generated reports spanning contract values, revenue, expenses, billing, and labor costs. Multiple sources and manual preparation made filtering and trend analysis difficult.

My contribution

I supported the transition to a centralized Power BI report consolidating project financial information, and implemented scheduled refreshes to reduce manual preparation.

Resulting capability

Project managers could explore financial metrics, analyze labor and expenses, monitor contract performance, and identify trends through interactive filters and visualizations.

The challenge

Leadership needed a centralized view of project progress, emerging risks, and whether required status reports had been submitted. Updates were inconsistently collected and difficult to access.

My contribution

I contributed to a standardized weekly reporting process and developed a Power BI solution centralizing project updates, with filters by division and project manager, compliance monitoring, and historical trend analysis.

Resulting capability

I extended the process with Power Automate and AI-assisted summaries highlighting key updates, risks, trends, and opportunities in automated weekly leadership emails.
